AES67 for Penta 720/721 Audio Router and I/O

AES67 Audio-over-IP Capability for Penta 720 Audio Router and I/O

NTP Technology will introduce AES67 capability to its Penta 720 compact broadcast audio router at BVE 2016 in London's ExCel exhibition centre, February 23-25.

Developed by the Audio Engineering Society, AES67 is a layer 3 protocol suite based on existing standards and is designed to allow interoperability between various IP-based audio networking systems such as RAVENNA, Livewire, Q-LAN and Dante.

“Many broadcasters are transitioning to an IP-based infrastructure and even more are looking to go that way," comments NTP Technology's Business Development Manager Jan Lykke. "The Penta 720 already supports Dante audio-over-IP. The addition of AES67 makes it possible to use the Penta 720 in both Dante and AES67 based solutions simultaneously. Dante provides a very easy, flexible and powerful way of building an audio-over-IP infrastructure. However, there is also a requirement amongst end-users for an open standard to interconnect to non-Dante devices. This is where we believe AES67 is the ideal solution. For that reason, we have joined the Media Networking Alliance which is promoting the AES67 standard.”

The Penta 720 with the AES67 upgrade can be shown on the HHB Communications stand, L45, where Jan Lykke will also be available to demonstrate it and discuss AES67 in more detail. HHB Communications is the exclusive distributor for NTP in the UK and Ireland.
