Fast, flexible, and economical audio routing via IP can now be provided using the PENTA 725 IP audio router. PENTA 725 IP audio router enables broadcastquality audio over IP Layer 3 based Gigabit Ethernet with sub-millisecond latency. The capacity is 1024 x 1024 cross points with 64 bi-directional channels over IP, 64 AES3 I/O channels and 6 optical MADI or router connection interfaces housed in a 1U 19" chassis. PENTA 725 IP is an extention to the PENTA 725 router platform with the additional blilty to interface broadcast quality audio over IP based Etenet. Key features: -
Low latency, tightly synchronised, transport of uncompressed audio over IP networks using off the shelf switches. -
Stand alone IP audio interface and format converter -
Interface for NTP TDM router systems -
AES3 and MADI Interface with SRC -
Redundant Router Matrix core and PSU -
TCP/IP control via NTP Router Control System -
Router Control of both IP routing and TDM matrix -
Compliant with the features and specifications of Penta 725 -
Dante based Ethernet Layer 3 protocol
IP Audio Router Concept
The PENTA 725 IP combines standard TDM routing with the ability to interface audio on Gigabit IP Layer 3 networks, and indeed route the audio in the networks using standard switches. Also across subnets. PENTA 725 IP can interface 64 channels, if more units are used a total of 512 channels can be routed on a 1 Gigabit network, and more if the network capacity is higher. The audio channels can be seen as either I/O for the router system or as connections in the router system between more Penta 725 IP units. All switching on the IP network is controlled by NTP RCCore router control system, and connections are managed by the NTP VMC control surface just like TDM connections, enabling the connections to be changed dynamically according to the required programme schedules. IP audio entering or leaving the PENTA 725 IP router can be interfaced on a PC platform by using a dedicated or virtual Ethernet sound card. The VMC control software is used to select a monitor source, which can be made available for high quality/low latency monitoring directly on the PC, as well as selecting PC play-out sources to the network.
The IP audio protocol is based on the Dante Technology, and will interoperate with products of other brands that complies to Dante. The protocol will provide AVB support once standardization is fully completed. Redundant Audio and Control Interface via IP/Ethernet
Two RJ45 Gigabit network connectors are available on the PENTA 725 IP enabling connection to a redundant network. Optionally two IP Matrix cores can be installed providing a redundant core with seamless switch-over capability between the redundant networks and cores. Both control and IP audio data are transmitted on the IP connections enabling in-band control of more IP audio nodes, and control via the NTP Router Control System RCCoreV3 on the same network Specifications -
